Bennett has really been holding his head up well so I decided to try out the Bumbo. He really held his head up pretty well and actually holds it up stronger after being in the Bumbo. What a big boy!

July 4th Weekend
Because I am still home on maternity leave, it didn't seem like such a big deal to not be going to work on Friday before the holiday, but a visit from the Babcock's made it special!
Julie, Brad and Brayden arrived in the afternoon on Friday and we went up to the Lazy Lobster restaurant in Milford CT. I had seen a commercial advertising a cozy restaurant with the ability to dine in or reserve a table on the beach in the sand. After calling into the restaurant, I found that we could reserve the table, but that it would cost $10 for us to eat on the beach. This should have been my first red flag, but I went ahead and reserved anyway. We arrived in Milford to a little hole in the wall place in a not so great part of town--but on the beach. Typically we love hole in the wall-type places as the food is better than the ambiance. This place, however, was an exception. After Mark and Brad ordered, they carried our plastic table and chairs down to the waterfront. We took in the gorgeous view as we waited for the food to arrive and fed Bennett. Not long after placing B back in his carseat did he proceed to spit back up all of the milk--all 5 ounces of it! His clothes were soaked and we found that the change of clothes that I thought I had in the diaper bag wasn't there! After getting his romper off, we found that he also had a pants explosion, which was all over the back of his outfit. With no other options, I took off his clothes, wiped him down, changed his diaper--all on the plastic table where we were waiting to eat our dinner. Luckily, Julie had a t-shirt of Brayden's, which was huge but dry. Brad looked at me as I was wiping up my son's butt right before putting a too-small diaper on him (as the new bigger diapers were all safely at home) and said "You guys are such rookies". Lesson learned.
On Saturday we celebrated the 4th with a cookout with local friends in town and then a trip to Centro and then the town fireworks. The babies stayed home this time with Grandma and Grandpa. Even in a recession the Gold Coast knows how to put on a good beach fireworks show--we don't need that $50M that Madoff took!
Jane Green
Last Tuesday our book club went to a reading and signing for Jane Green's new book, Dune Road. As many of you may know, Jane lives in Westport and bases her "fictional" Connecticut Gold Coast town of Highfield on Westport, Southport and Fairfield CT. She is English, but writes the books from the perspective of Americans, so it was funny to hear the English accent as she read from the book. She describes her take on our quiet little NYC suburb as being charming at first until you realize it is hedge fund hell:-) We don't take offense...Here's a picture of some of the girls that came with Jane...pick up the book...I am already 50 pages through after one sitting!
