We are at home!! Ali is resting and doing great. Bennett is sleeping. The dogs already love him, although Mogley first thought he was a toy, then got scared, and now is cuddling with the baby. Here is a video of some Hiccups. More pics to follow!!!

Karen's Baby Shower
Karen's baby shower was actually almost a month ago now, but I just found the very few pictures that I have of the event, so I thought I would post...I am in the background of the first one:-)
After 40 weeks...
As many of you have likely guessed because of our communications blackout and the fact that the baby countdown at the top of this blog is still counting down, Baby Smitty has decided not to make an appearance as of yet. We are only 4 days late at this point, however, the frustrating part is that we were told that we were going to be induced last week and now we are still hanging out! The plan from here is that we have a doctor's appointment today at 315pm at which we will see if there has been any progress. If there is still no progress, we go to Norwalk Hospital tomorrow for this gel stuff (which is rumored to really be ineffective, but that is the next step) and then check on Friday to see if we can induce. If we can induce Friday, then we will, but if not, it will be next week.
We very much appreciate all of your thoughts and messages--as you can imagine, being the control freak that I am, this has been a challenging time, but I guess it gets us used to not having control:-) We will send out a text message to all once the little guy comes and then post something here shortly after.
In the meantime, we are living as normal--see pics...we went out on the boat yesterday after going to the Memorial Day parade in downtown Fairfield. I figured that if he was going to come, giving him a crowded parade and an isolated boat ride might trigger him to make an appearance:-) It was a gorgeous day and we were happy to take advantage of it...check out the pic of the baby's first ride on the boat and me driving at 40 weeks and 3 days preggo!

Officially late at 12:01am...
So this little guy is officially late starting tomorrow...likely he won't be out anytime soon. Originally they were going to induce labor this past Wednesday, but it turned out it didn't work out....
It all started last Thursday when I was in the city for presentations. After a surprise baby shower thrown by the NYC Principal office (thanks so much!!), I grabbed a cab over to the Penn Station area for a client presentation. The cab ride cost about $4. After a great meeting, I decided to head back in a cab rather than walk because my briefcase was still pretty heavy and I am waddling at best right now. In the cab, I told the driver the cross streets to take me to, then started checking my blackberry. We were only about 12 blocks away from my parking spot, so it should have been fast. When I finally looked up from my blackberry, we were at Park Ave, past where I needed to be by a bunch. I looked at the cab driver's name, and, I kid you not, his name was Habib. I challenged him on where we were and how we were going to get to 44th and 6th. He said that he had to go down to 3rd ave in order to drive back up 44th, which is totally wrong. Not only does 6th take us north, but if you go down to 3rd, you can't drive back up 44th because it runs one way from West to East. I told him to turn left on Park, which he said we couldn't do until I yelled at him and he did it. Then we went down to 42nd, where Park dead end's into Grand Central. I told him to take a left to just get me up to 6th, but, from the left turning lane, he took a RIGHT!!! At this point I was really upset and told him just to pull over and decided to walk back to the office. Only 1/2 block into my walk, I felt a gush downstairs...that is where I turned into a crazy New Yorker and started cursing to myself on the sidewalk--no one even noticed:-) I kept walking back to the garage while having bad pains and leaking. At this point, I was driving out in rush hour traffic from NYC because of Habib's crazy detour, so I just decided to head back North. By the time I got to the Bronx, the pains had stopped, but I was still leaking when I got home around 7pm. I was up all night worried that it was amniotic fluid, but had an appointment the next day with my doctor.
When I got to the doctor's the next morning, I was still leaking and they sent Mark and I to Norwalk Hospital to be tested. Also, after sizing up Mark, our doc said that the baby was too big to drop or come out of me and said we should get ready for a C-section and that we would be induced or get the C on Wednesday the 20th. At the hospital, we had the ultrasound and found that they thought he was around 8lbs, give or take a POUND! That means that he could either be 7 lbs or 9lbs! He was healthy, though, so they thought that the main reason they would try and get him out was because he was big. We finished up Friday thinking that we were going to be induced on the 20th and set an appointment with yet another doctor on Monday.
On Monday, we went in to find that there was still no dilation and that he really hasn't dropped. They said that I was "not induceable", so they wouldn't schedule me for that on Wednesday and they thought that I should wait for the C, which is in line with what I wanted anyway. So I decided not to make the commute to NY and work from home this week in hopes that the little guy would come. So far, no luck, but in his defense, his head is down, in the right position and he isn't officially due until tomorrow. Therefore I don't have beef with him until 12:01am.
So that is how Habib almost got the baby out of me early...moral of the story...make sure you pay attention when you get in a cab...or maybe not because if I had really laid into him maybe the baby really would have come!!

11 more days!
Today was beautiful--in the 70's and sunny! We all went to the Dogwood festival in town to walk around, then Mark and I went to walk at St. Mary's by the Sea in Bridgeport. They finished the floors in my parent's house today, so just painting, cleaning, then move in! Enjoy some fun pics of the boys (my first babies:-)) and the only "belly" pic that I will be posting...it is getting scary...

The 39th week...
So today was my check up going into my 39th week of pregnancy and...still nothing! No progression at all as of yet. Also, he is a big boy--they estimate that he is already at least 7 1/2 pounds!
We found out the plan is that next week we get a gel that could start the dilation process, that could lead to labor. Then, the Friday after if there is still no progress, then they will scheduled us for pitocin Memorial Day week. Keep your fingers crossed that the little guy starts heading for the exit soon!
The Kline parents have been here since last Sunday and we started ripping up the flooring in the new house. What we found were beautiful floors for MOST of the house and linoleum glued to floors in the bedroom and dining rooms. Today the floor guys are stripping away all the old nasty stuff and starting to re-finish the floors. Move in for them will be next week!
